At Home Physical Therapy for Strength and Independence
Under Medicare guidelines, Premier can provide in-home physical therapy sessions if the patient is homebound, is able to improve his/her gait or mobility, and a doctor prescribes the services. Patients recovering from post-operative or joint replacement surgeries (such as knee or hip), falls or strokes, for example, can benefit greatly from physical therapy in conjunction with a regimented exercise program. Physical therapy is performed for the preservation, enhancement or restoration of movement and physical functions impaired or threatened by disability, injury, or disease through the use of therapeutic exercise, massage, assistive devices and physiotherapy (like patient education and training). Our goal is to work with your loved one to recover as quickly as possible by working with them with daily activities like standing, walking and gait training, just to name a few. (Physical therapy services are offered in the Manhattan location only.)
Our physical therapy services include:
- Gait/stair training
- Energy conservation
- Home exercise program
- Home safety evaluation
- Balance training
- Equipment evaluation
- Pain management
- Proper positioning/body mechanics
It’s important to note that there are many coverage guidelines for reimbursing in-home physical therapy services. Premier will verify the home health benefits covered under your plan first and notify you of any upfront expenses you may incur before beginning therapy.
